35. James Madison³ HILLARD (Thomas Jefferson² HILLARD, Richmond A.¹ HILLARD) was born on 22 JUN 1841 in Mount Vernon, Knox Co., Ohio. He appeared on the 1850 U.S. Census with his parents in Perry Twp., Morrow Co., Ohio. In 1860 he appeared on the U.S. Census with them again, this time in Wright Twp., Ottawa Co., Michigan. He died on 3 FEB 1899 in Surrey Twp., Clare Co., Michigan, USA. His grandson, Morley Wilson, reported that James ran a little store in a small town near Big Rapids, Michigan.

He was married to Abigail Marion "Abbie" WESCOTT on 18 AUG 1867 in Croton, Newaygo Co., Michigan, USA. Abigail was from Steuben Co., New York prior to their marriage. James and Abigail appeared on the 1880 U.S. Census in Austin Twp., MeCosta Co. , Michigan. They were reported to have lived at Brinton, Isabella Co., Michigan and around 1885 were living in Surry Twp., Clare Co., Michigan. Abigail appeared on the 1900 U.S. Census in Surry Twp., Clare Co., Michigan. Abigail Marion "Abbie" WESCOTT was born in FEB 1852 in Otego Co., New York, USA. She died on 6 MAR 1903. James Madison HILLARD and Abigail Marion "Abbie" WESCOTT had the following children:
