ZADOCK HAWKINS Book Information

17. Wilmot³ HAWKINS (William Wilmot² HAWKINS, Zadock¹ HAWKINS) was born about 1818 in New Brunswick, Canada. There is some uncertainty over his birth date. Census records place his birth around 1817-1818. However, an inscription on his grave marker, which was recorded before his grave marker disappeared, indicates he died in November 1863, aged 44 years 6 months, which places his birth in 1819.

The original research published in the Generations article placed this Wilmot Hawkins as the son of Zadock Hawkins and Mary Paul. However, we are convinced he was misplaced. Our research has convinced us that he belongs as the son of William Wilmot Hawkins and his second wife Jane. Rationale for this will be provided in the book on the descendants of Zadock (1733) Hawkins that we are compiling. He died on 17 Nov 1863.

He was married to Mary MCVICAR on 17 Sep 1843 in Eastport, Washington Co., Maine, USA. Mary MCVICAR was born about 1824 in Scotland. She died in Oct 1870 in Pennfield, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick, Canada. Wilmot HAWKINS and Mary MCVICAR had the following children:

68 iv. Wilmot⁴ HAWKINS Jr. was born about 1849 in New Brunswick, Canada. He appeared on the 1851 Canadian Census with his parents in Pennfield Parish, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick. We believe he died before 1885.

70 vi. Archibald⁴ HAWKINS was born on 1 May 1855. He died on 14 Jan 1856.
71 vii. Peter⁴ HAWKINS was born about 1856 in New Brunswick, Canada. We believe he died before 1885.
