Although a considerable amount of my own original research has gone into this project, I also must acknowledge the help, hints, clues and encouragement that I have received from many people. Without their influence and help, this project would never have been brought to its present state. Some of those on whom I have leaned are:

Belinda Atkins of South Coffeyville, Kansas, has information on Abraham Lincoln Finney and Sarah Emiline Sutton's family on a Family Tree Maker site and was kind enough to give me permission to reproduce her information here.

Joanne Badura of Nebraska provided information on the Laidman family.

Martha Ford Barto of Fairhaven, Deer Island, New Brunswick, Canada, compiled the descendants of William Wilmot Hawkins AKA Eli William Wilmot Hawkins and published the list in the October, 1981 issue of the New Brunswick, Canada, Genealogical Society's publication, "Generations." Many of William Wilmot Hawkins' descendants came from her work.

James A. Buker of Castle Rock, Washington, provided much of the information on the family and descendants of John W. Hawkins, son of Elijah F. Hawkins and wife Sarah E. Duncan. He noticed that the John W. Hawkins who originally appeared on this web site as an unmarried son of Elijah F. Hawkins and Sarah E. Duncan was in fact his ancestor John W. Hawkins. Many thanks to James for making that connection and providing documention both to confirm the connection and to fill in details on John W. Hawkins' descendants.

Wayne Chase provided a considerable amount of information on descendants of Olive Lydia or Lydia Olive Hawkins, and particularly descendants of their son William.

Elinor (Owens) Chilcote provided a considerable amount of information on many of the Owenses and particularly on the descendants of Isaac Newton Owens.

Holly (Hartrick) Childs provided information on descendants of Reuben Hawkins.

James Edward Clayburn provided names and dates for many descendants of Joseph Borden and his wife, Susan Jane Hawkins.

Necia Currier shared a lot of information on descendants of Lydia Olive (Hawkins) Chase.

Mary Emma Curtis - Most of the descendants of John Fetters and Emily Marie Hawkins came from THE MICHAEL FETTERS FAMILY, which was compiled by Mary Emma Curtis.

Robert Dobson of Ontario, Canada, provided a number of useful records, information, and that were instrumental in the discovery of the link between Zadock (1733) Hawkins and the Canadian branch of the Hawkins family.

Marian Elder of British Columbia, Canada, provided copies or shared the locations of many documents relating to the Canadian Hawkinses.

Phil and Jean (Overmyer) Essley provided a considerable amount of information about the descendants of Jean's mother, Brenda (Hawkins) Overmyer. Brenda is Dr. Zed Hawkins' daughter.

Michael J. Geier of California provided a considerable amount of information on the descendants of Ira Zadock Way.

Lt. Colonel William Russell Gillingham of Washington provided a considerable amount of information on the Gillingham family.

Michael and Linda Haley provided records with many names and dates for the descendants of Mary Hawkins and David Haley.

Philip Hawkins of New Brunswick, Canada, provided the names of many of the descendants of Arthur Wendell Hawkins.

Roger William Hawkins (1852 - 1935)
He compiled a list of the descendants of Eli William Wilmot Hawkins, as he was called by Roger. This compilation formed the basis for the listing of family members in the descendants of William Wilmot Hawkins, who left Connecticut and went to New Brunswick. All Hawkins are indebted to him for his foresight in writing down his recollections of the Hawkins family.

Ronnie Hawkins, Sr.
Special thanks to Ron his research on the Hawkins family. His efforts have brought together a number of Hawkins cousins over the web. Since I live too far from the Indiana homestead where many of our Hawkins clan settled, it is not convenient to drop in and check out a cemetery inscription or some other record. Ron has done this for me on several occasions. He has willingly shared his own ideas and discoveries to help me discover other Hawkins cousins and ancestors. I've enjoyed getting to know him as a friend as well as a cousin.

Dr. Zed T. Hawkins (1867 - 1945)
All the Hawkins cousins are indebted to Dr. Zed T. Hawkins for his wonderful book entitled, "150 Years of the Hawkins Family," which he wrote around 1933 for a Hawkins family reunion. I particularly am indebted to him for information on my Hawkins ancestors because my great grandmother, Sarah Jane (Hawkins) Garn, died when my grandfather was a very young child. As a result few traditions were passed on about the Hawkins clan. His book filled a big void in our efforts to understand of our Hawkins background.

Pamelia Dawn (Barker) Hayes provided a list of the descendants of Thomas Hawkins and his wife Abigail Race.

Wilma C. Hillman provided a significant amount of information on Zadock (1733) Hawkins and his son Thomas. She also pointed out key pieces of information that were instrumental in unraveling the ancestry of Zadock (1782) Hawkins.

Donna Hollinger provided a copy of her research on the descendants of William Hawkins and his wife Margaret Elizabeth Caleff.

G. Christian Larsen of New Brunswick, Canada, provided many useful records on the Canadian branch of the family, particularly on the early generations of Hawkinses and the Justasons who married into the family.

Marjorie MacNeill provided names and dates for many descendants of Olive Lydia or Lydia Olive Hawkins and her parents.

Robert Eugene McDonald provided names and dates for many descendants of Darius McDonald, Jr., and Malissa Ann Hawkins.

Julie (Hawkins) Meyer provided many names and dates on the descendants of John Leo Hawkins.

Laura (Johnson) Mytinger provided many names and dates on the descendants of Mary Hawkins and David Haley.

Dorothy Pinegar of Oklahoma provided many records on the descendants of Abraham Lincoln Finney and Sarah Emiline Sutton's family. Dorothy was kind enough to give me permission to reproduce her information here.

Daniel Bruce Steadman provided names and dates for many descendants of Elijah Eastman Owens.

Thomas Arlen Weaver gave permission to duplicate some of his family records that are on a Rootsweb site.

Marcia Ann (Suddith) Wenrick provided names and dates for many descendants of Joseph Borden and his wife, Susan Jane Hawkins.

Beverly (Bates) Wickson provided names and dates for many descendants of Corinna Hawkins and her husband, Michael Franklin Nodding.

I would also like to thank the countless others whose hints I may have forgotten which nevertheless may have lead to some major find. As I've collected and discovered more and more information, I've found that I've failed to include the names of contributers in the credits more often. Please forgive my oversight if I failed to note your contribution. And feel free to contact me and remind me if I've failed to mention your contribution so I can add it to the list above.
