SIXTH GENERATIONZADOCK HAWKINS Book Information987. Geneva6 KIRKHAM (Lucenia5 OWENS, Lucenia "Cena"4 HAWKINS, Zadock3 HAWKINS, Zadock2 HAWKINS, Zadock1 HAWKINS) was born about 1872 in Wellington Twp., Sumner Co., Kansas, USA. She appeared on the 1880 U.S. Census with her parents in Sumner Co., Kansas. She died in 1915 in Hot Springs, Garland Co., Arkansas, USA. Our book, published in 2005, reported that she had died by the time the 1900 U.S. Census was recorded. This was because her mother, Lucenia (Owens) Kirkham, was reported in that census to be the mother of three children, only one of whom was living. Since Geneva's sister Tyrena was living at the time, we inferred that Tyrena's two sisters had died. However, the evidence that Geneva lived until 1915 confirms that the 1900 U.S . Census misreported the information on Lucenia Kirkham's children. We suspect that someone misinterpreted the census taker's question about how many children she had and how many were living to mean how many children were living in the household at the time. She was married to James E. HARRELL on 9 Jun 1890 in
Sebastian Co., Arkansas. James E. HARRELL was born
about 1863 in Iowa, USA. His birth year is derived from his age on his marriage
record. A descendant reports that he was born about 1852. Census records suggest
he may have been born in the late 1850s. A descendant also reports that he was
born in Iowa. The 1910 U.S. Census places his birth in North Carolina. He died
on 19 Nov 1934 in Hot Springs, Garland Co., Arkansas, USA. He was buried in
Hollywood Cemetery in Hot Springs. Geneva KIRKHAM and James E. HARRELL had the
following children:
