ZADOCK HAWKINS Book Information

44. William Wilmot⁴ HAWKINS Jr. (Zadock³ HAWKINS, William Wilmot² HAWKINS, Zadock¹ HAWKINS) was born on 10 Jun 1810 in Pennfield, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick, Canada. He was originally placed as a son of William Hawkins and Sarah Paul, brother of Zadock Hawkins and sister of Mary Paul, respectively. We believe we have credible reasons for placing him now as the son of Zadock Hawkins and Mary Paul. The reasoning behind this decision appears our book, The Family of Zadock Hawkins.
He died on 22 Jun 1879 in Wolves Island, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick, Canada.

He was married to Sarah YOUNG (daughter of Capt. Henry YOUNG and Clarissa PECK) on 24 Jan 1832 in New Brunswick, Canada, most likely. Sarah YOUNG was born about 1814 in Pennfield, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick, Canada, most likely. Early work by others indicated that her parents were Isaac Young and Mary Turner, which we reported in our Hawkins book in 2005. However, a report of her death in a newspaper, which was printed within a month of her death, clearly reports her to be the fourth daughter of Capt. Henry Young. Therefore we have moved her to the family of Capt. Henry Young. She died on 13 May 1846 in Pennfield, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick, Canada. The date and place of death given here are from a newspaper record contemporary with her death. Some later records placed her death on 1 May 1846, which we originally reported in our Hawkins book of 2005. William Wilmot HAWKINS Jr. and Sarah YOUNG had the following children:

He was married to Jane "Eleanor" PAUL (daughter of Joshua PAUL and Elizabeth STINSON) on 21 Aug 1849 in Eastport, Washington Co., Maine, USA. William and Jane appeared on the 1851 Canadian Census in Pennfield Parish, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick, under the names Wilmot and Elenor Hawkins. A child named Harriet living with them in that census who was born about 1845 was in fact William's stepdaughter. She was the only child of Eleanor and her previous husband, Capt. MacDonald. They remained in the Pennfield area their entire lives. Jane "Eleanor" PAUL was born on 29 Sep 1824 in Beaver Harbour, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick, Canada. She went by the name Eleanor. She died on 4 Sep 1906. William Wilmot HAWKINS Jr. and Jane "Eleanor" PAUL had the following children:
