He was married to Belle E. EWING (daughter of J. R. EWING and M. COOPER) on 31 Jul 1898 in Pittsfield, Pike Co., Illinois. Their marriage record is interesting because it indicates the marriage was the second for both. The surname for the bride is given as Ewing. For "Maiden Name, if a Widow," she had written Mrs. Way. It is not clear if her first marriage was to a man also named Way or if there was some confusion in filling out the record. She obviously married under her maiden name since her father's surname was Ewing. She was from Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois, prior to their marriage. Eli and Bell appeared on the 1900 U.S. Census in Peoria City, Peoria Co., Illinois. Belle E. EWING was born in Aug 1876 in Lincoln, Logan Co., Illinois. She probably was the Effie B. Way, age 31 years, 7 months, 5 days, who died around 11 April 1907 in East Peoria, Illinois and was buried in Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, Peoria Co., Illinois. Eli Tingle WAY and Belle E.
