372. Malissa Ann⁵ HAWKINS (Ezra Eleazer⁴ HAWKINS, Zadock³ HAWKINS, Zadock² HAWKINS, Zadock¹ HAWKINS) was born on 18 May 1848 in Indiana, USA. Some records placed her birth a year earlier. However, census records and cemetery information support the date given here. She appeared on the 1850 U.S. Censuses with her parents in Waltz Twp., Wabash Co., Indiana. She appeared on the 1860 U.S. Census with her father and stepmother in the same location. She died on 26 Dec 1929 in Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana, USA.

She was married to Darius E. MCDONALD Jr. (son of Darius MCDONALD and Caroline WHITMORE) on 8 Aug 1868 in Somerset, Wabash Co., Indiana, USA. Dr. Hawkins has the following to say about Darius and Malissa:
For many years they lived on a farm northeast of Somerset, Indiana and all of their children, with one exception, were born on this farm. Later they sold the farm and entered the dry goods business at North Manchester [Indiana]. From here they moved to Somerset where they kept a hotel and where Deed, as he was usually called, in connection with Sol Aukerman [sic] had a general store, moving a few years later to Elwood, Indiana, where they established their future home and where the mother, Malissa died, December 26, 1929. While at Elwood, Deed, together with J. L. Hawkins, had a restaurant and after later disposing of this he bought a store and meat market which he kept in operation for several years.
