359. Leander J.⁵ HAWKINS (Elisha⁴ HAWKINS, Zadock³ HAWKINS, Zadock² HAWKINS, Zadock¹ HAWKINS) was born on 10 May 1843 in Indiana, USA. He appeared on the 1850 U.S. Census with his parents in Waltz Twp., Wabash Co., Indiana. Ten years later he appeared on the census with his mother and step father (who was also his uncle) in Washington Twp., Miami Co., Indiana. His death record indicates he was born in Ohio. More likely it was Bartholomew Co., Indiana since his parents were married there and were living there in 1840, three years before his birth. Early census returns also support Indiana as his birth place. He died on 23 Jul 1914 in El Segundo, Los Angeles Co., California. He was buried in Chanute, Kansas, USA. He lived in Kansas from about 1870 to about 1887. He was living in Chanute, Neosho Co., Kansas, in 1891 and in Chicago, Illinois in September, 1892. He had lived in El Segundo, California, for about 8 months prior to his death in 1914.

He was married to Lucy WILSON on 23 Feb 1869 in Cerro Gordo, Piatt Co., Illinois, USA. Lucy WILSON was born in Apr 1850 in Illinois, USA. She died about 1930 in Glendale, Maricopa Co., Arizona, USA, most likely. Leander J. HAWKINS and Lucy WILSON had the following children:
