134. Catherine Elizabeth⁵ BLACK (Sarah Jane⁴ JUSTASON, Lydia³ HAWKINS, William Wilmot² HAWKINS, Zadock¹ HAWKINS) was born on 12 Jul 1826 in New Brunswick, Canada. She appeared on the 1851 Canadian Census with her parents in Pennfield Parish, Charlotte Co., New Brunswick.

She was married to Benjamin PHILLIPS on 4 Jan 1853 in Eastport, Washington Co., Maine, USA. The marriage records of Eastport, Maine, report that a Catherine Black from Beaver Harbour, New Brunswick, married Benjamin Phillips of Eastport on 4 January 1853. We have been able to locate only one Catherine Black in the Beaver Harbour vicinity who could have been the Catherine Black who married Benjamin Phillips in 1853 in Eastport. Two years before the marriage, census records of Pennfield Parish report a Catherine Elizabeth Black as the daughter of John Black and Sarah Jane Justason. There is no other Catherine Black in the vicinity on that census. Therefore we believe that the Catherine Black who married in Eastport in 1853 is the Catherine Elizabeth Black who was the daughter of John Black and Sarah Jane Justason.
