ZADOCK HAWKINS Book Information

3078. Janan8 ESSLEY (Jean Ann7 OVERMYER, Brenda Elizabeth6 HAWKINS, Dr. Zed Thomas5 HAWKINS, Ezra Eleazer4 HAWKINS, Zadock3 HAWKINS, Zadock2 HAWKINS, Zadock1 HAWKINS) was born on 29 Jun 1954 in Sidney, Nebraska, USA. She died on 21 May 2006 in Florida, USA. She worked for Give Kids the World Village, where "Wish Children" and their families from around the world with a terminally ill child, stay when visiting Disney World and other attractions in Florida. While working there she completed her Bachelors Degree from the University of Kansas and enrolled in the University of Central Florida to work towards a Masters Degree in Business Administration. After completing much of the work towards the MBA, she became terminally ill but continued working on the degree until the middle of the semester when she was completing the last three-hour course required for graduation. Upon learning that she was too weak to complete requirements for the course, the University waived the course requirement because of her near "A" average in the other course work she had done towards the MBA. They staged a full-fledged graduation ceremony in a classroom at the hospital, with Pomp and Circumstances played by a flutist and the dean in his robes. About twenty-five of her friends were present. It meant she had obtained the goal she struggled so hard to achieve.

She died soon afterward. In her honor her employer, Give Kids the World Village, has created a new character, a ginger-bread boy named Murphy, in her honor. She was present in her wheel chair in March when they presented Murphy to the public. Murphy will join the Mayor of Give Kids the World Village, a rabbit, in greeting the terminally ill children and their families to the Village for their six-day gratis stay.

She was married to Richard MURPHY in Kissimmee, Florida, USA.
