ZADOCK HAWKINS Book Information

2170. Francis Marion7 WALDO (Janette Evelyn6 LOCK, Eliza J.5 WAY, Mary Jane4 HAWKINS, Zadock3 HAWKINS, Zadock2 HAWKINS, Zadock1 HAWKINS) was born in Jul 1891 in Illinois, USA. He appeared on the 1900 U.S. Census with his parents in Hopewell Twp., Marshall Co., Illinois.

He was married to Edith PARKER (daughter of E. F. PARKER) about 1910. Edith PARKER was born about 1893 in Chicago Heights, Illinois, USA. She was born in August 189?. The last digit of her birthyear is unreadable in the newspaper clipping. She died on 29 Feb 1920 in Hopewell, Marshall Co., Illinois. Her obituary reads:
Mrs. Frank Waldo Dies
Mention was made in last week's Home Journal of the illness of Mr and Mrs. Frank Waldo and four children, of Hopewell, their illness being due to an attack of influenza.
As it was impossible to obtain any help while so much sickness was prevalent, the Waldo family were compelled to get along as best they could and for this reason did not have the care they should have received. Mrs Nettie Waldo, the mother of Frank Waldo, came to their assistance a couple of days before death entered the home. Mrs. Waldo when very sick with the flu tried to care for her sick little ones, when alas she became so ill that after only a few days sickness she closed her tired eyes to open them in the Other World. Thus another young mother has left a sorrowing husband and four little children to fight life's battles without the helping hand of the wife and mother. She passed away Sunday afternoon, February 29, 1920, at their home in Hopewell. On account of Mr. Waldo and the four children being sick, short services were held at the Lacon cemetery Monday afternoon, March 1, conducted by Rev. Thompson of the Methodist church.
Edith Parker Waldo was born in Chicago Heights, Ill., in August, 189? [digit unreadable] and was married to Frank Waldo about ten years ago. Five children were born to them. The youngest, a little one of two years, met a tragic death by drowning a few months ago, which event has cast a deep sorrow ever since over the little household.
Their entire life has been spent in this vicinity, and Mr. Waldo has been assisting Jake Daum with his farm work in Hopewell.
Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Parker of Chicago Heights, parents of the deceased, attended the funeral. Mrs. Elmer Butts, of this city, is a sister of M?? [unreadable, but probably Mrs.] Waldo. Great sympathy is felt for the bereaved young husband and the four motherless little children. Francis Marion WALDO and Edith PARKER had the following children:
