389. John R.⁵ HAWKINS (William W.⁴ HAWKINS, Zadock³ HAWKINS, Zadock² HAWKINS, Zadock¹ HAWKINS) was born on 8 Dec 1859 in North Bend Twp., Starke Co., Indiana. He appeared on the 1860, 1870, and 1880 U.S. Censuses with his parents in North Bend Twp., Starke Co., Indiana. He died on 28 May 1940 in Meauwataka, Colfax Twp., Wexford Co., Michigan. He was buried in Meauwataka Cemetery, Colfax Twp., Wexford Co., Michigan. After John's niece, Hattie (Garn) Martin died around 1900, Hattie's son Claud who was fathered by an American Indian, came to live with John Hawkins and eventually took the surname Hawkins. He was married to Lucinda J. HILL on 29 Oct 1882 in Starke Co., Indiana, USA. John and Lucinda appeared on the 1910 U.S. Census in Colfax Twp., Wexford Co., Michigan. They had lived there since about 1884. John continued to live there after Lucinda died until his own death in 1940. Lucinda J. HILL was born about 1866 in Indiana, USA. She died on 16 Jul 1913. John R. HAWKINS and Lucinda J. HILL had the following children:
