She was buried in the Culver Cemetery, Culver, Marshall Co., Indiana. Dr. Zed Hawkins' book gives Ezra's first wife's name as Mary Ann Ebling and a marriage date of 12 June 1874. However, there is a record in the Marshall County, Indiana records of a marriage between an Ezra E. Hawkins and a Mary A. [sic] Ebling which took place 26 June 1877. The latter date is consistent with the date of Ezra's first child which was 12 months later. And the Marshall County records were recorded closer in time to the event. A number of records report her middle name as Jane or a middle initial "J." Quite possibly she had two middle names. And her surname appears as both Abling and Ebling. Ezra E. HAWKINS and Mary Ann Jane EBLING had the following children:
