1127. Henry W. "Harry"⁶ LOCK (Eliza J.⁵ WAY, Mary Jane⁴ HAWKINS, Zadock³ HAWKINS, Zadock² HAWKINS, Zadock¹ HAWKINS) was born on 22 Aug 1874 in Rochester, Fulton Co., Indiana. He died on 7 Jul 1963 in Chillicothe, Peoria Co., Illinois, USA. His obituary reads:
Former Lacon Businessman Passes Away
Harry W. Lock, 89, died Sunday morning in Harper Rest Home, Chillicothe. Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon at the Lenz Memorial Home with Rev. Keith Gaither officiating. Burial was in Lacon Cemetery.
Born August 23, 1873, in Rochester, Indiana, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lock, he came to Lacon in 1913, where he married Mrs. Helen Vanderpool November 3, 1915. She died June 14, 1951.
When Lock's brother Martin passed away in 1915, he raised his sons Roy and Walter. He also took over his brother's shoe repair business which he operated for nearly 50 years prior to his retirement earlier this year.
In 1962 Lock was hospitalized for three months. On his release he went to live in a trailer home hear his nephew and wife, Walter and Sadie Lock of Chillicothe. On May 2 of this year he moved to the Harper Rest Home.
Surviving are two stepsons, Earl and Clarence Vanderpool, both of St. Louis; two nephews, Roy Lock of Ontario, Canada, and Walter Lock of Chillicothe, and one niece. Five sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
The obituary of his Henry's father in 1919 indicates he had one surviving son whose name was Harry. However other documents indicate his name was Henry W. Lock.

He was married to Mary MACE. Mary is placed as Henry's wife based on the death record of their daughter Eula, which gives the name and birthplace of her father as Harry Lock, born in Logansport, Indiana. While this is not the birth place that is listed in Henry's obituary, it is close, is a place the family was reported to have been living at one time, and therefore is easily confused with another location where the family had been. It would be highly coincidental for another Henry or Harry Lock to have been born there and show up with the other Locks in Lacon. Furthermore, we have not identified another Henry Lock living in Lacon at the time. Mary MACE was born in North Carolina. Henry W. "Harry" LOCK and Mary MACE had the following children:

2179 i. Eula Velma⁷ LOCK was born on 28 Dec 1905 in Tazewell Co., Illinois. She died on 25 Dec 1916 in Lacon, Marshall Co., Illinois.

He was married to Helen on 3 Nov 1915. Henry and Helen were living in Lacon, Marshall Co., Illinois in 1919. Helen was born in 1875. She died on 14 Jun 1951. The record indicates Harry married Mrs. Helen Vanderpool and further indicates that he had two stepsons with surname Vanderpool, indicating that Vanderpool was not Helen's maiden name.
