He was married to Velma MISNER (daughter of George MISNER and Blanche MILEY) about 1922. John and Velma farmed and in 1956 bought 99 acres near North Manchester, Indiana, where a grandson lives today. Velma MISNER was born on 3 Nov 1903. John "Leo" HAWKINS and Velma MISNER had the following children:

2029 i. Gene Leo⁷ HAWKINS was born on 13 Oct 1923. He died on 27 Sep 1932. He died of nephritis following an operation for appendicitis.
