He appeared on the 1880 U.S. Census with his parents in North Bend Twp. , Starke Co., Indiana. A news clip, unknown date, reported the following: Henry Hawkins was born in Wabash County in 1874. As a tonsorial artist [a barber], he is indeed an expert. His parlors are located under the Hess Drug Store, and is an up-to-date three-chair apartment. Mr. Hawkins is a member of the Ben Hur,[??] and enjoys a large and fashionable trade.

He was married to Cora M. POOR (daughter of William POOR and Ada NYHART) on 6 Mar 1897 in Plymouth, Marshall Co., Indiana, USA. Henry and Cora appeared on the 1900 U.S. Census in the town of Plymouth, Marshall Co., Indiana. In 1933 they lived in Mishawaka, St. Joseph Co., Indiana where they had lived for many years according to Dr. Hawkins book. Cora M. POOR was born in Jun 1881 in Plymouth, Marshall Co., Indiana, USA. Henry E. HAWKINS and Cora M. POOR had the following children:

child2002 i. Kyle William "Oliver"7 HAWKINS was born on 27 Jan 1898 in Indiana, USA. He appeared on the 1900 U.S. Census with his parents in the town of Plymouth, Marshall Co., Indiana. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1916. According to Dr. Hawkins' book, Kyle had been employed in Cleveland, Ohio for several years prior to 1933. He died in Aug 1978.
