358. John Washington⁸ GARN (Susanna⁷ GARN, John⁶ GARN, Johannes⁵ GERN, Johann Adam⁴ GERN, Johannes³ GERN, David² GERN, Johannes¹ GERN) was born on 8 Mar 1835 in Sandusky Co., Ohio, USA. This date is derived from his death record. Another record suggests his birth may have been in 1835. He appeared on the 1850 U.S. Census with his parents in Jackson Twp., Sandusky Co., Ohio. He died on 2 Feb 1916 in Burr Oak, St. Joseph Co., Michigan, USA. He was buried at Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak Twp.

His obituary reads:
JOHN W. GARN
John W. Garn was born in Sandusky, County, Ohio, March 8, 1835 and departed this life February 2, 1916, aged 81 years, 10 months and 25 days.
On August 20, 1863, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Hammel [sic] and to this union was born ten children, Minnie E., David F., Samuel S., James W., Ida M., Anna F., Lola A., Annis E., Emma Blanch, Maidie B. All survive except Ida May, who died in infancy.
There are also seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
After a long, useful and active life Mr. Garn was called home, and we shall miss his genial smile and hearty hand-shake.
He was a great lover of his own home and in his younger days enjoyed no sport so well as hunting and fishing.
As a neighbor he was never known to refuse kindness and would share his last crust with a friend.
The sympathy of the community is extended to the widow and family. May the sheltering arms of our all-loving Father be thrown around the sorrowing ones.
The funeral, Ref. Steffe and Undertaker Renshaw officiating, was held from the M. E. church in this place last Saturday afternoon. Burial in the village cemetery.

Sarah Ann WARNER (daughter of Henry S. WARNER and Mary Ann WERLY) was born about 1842 in Ohio, USA. John Washington GARN and Sarah Ann WARNER had the following children:

He was married to Rebecca HUMMEL on 20 Aug 1863 in St. Joseph Co., Michigan, USA. Rebecca HUMMEL was born on 19 Feb 1843 in Pennsylvania, USA. McBride and Capener report that she was born in Burr Oak, Michigan. Her death reccord reports that she was born in Pennsylvania. She died on 27 Feb 1923 in Sturgis, St. Joseph Co., Michigan, USA. Death records report she died on 27 February 1923. McBride and Capener report that she died on 1 March 1923. John Washington GARN and Rebecca HUMMEL had the following children:
