He resided in Mar 2000 in Troy, Michigan. He died on 1 Apr 2000 in Royal Oak, Oakland Co., Michigan. He died at Beaumont Hospital and was buried in Utica Cemetery, Utica, Michigan.

He was married to Natalie MCLEOD (daughter of James MCLEOD and Marion GRIMES) in Grand Ledge, Eaton Co., Michigan. He was divorced from Natalie MCLEOD. Richard Dwight DOBAT and Natalie MCLEOD had the following children:
