Descendants of Jeremiah S. NICKERSON

of Connecticut and New York

This web page is devoted to Jeremiah S. Nickerson, his wife, Lovisa Howland, and their descendants.

Jeremiah, whose father and grandfather both served in the Revolutionary War, was born in 1785 in Fairfield Co., Connnecticut. He married Lovisa Howland, whose father, Seth, served in the Revolutionary War. They eventually settled in the Tompkins and Tioga Co., New York area. From there their descendants moved west to Ohio, Michigan, Illinois, Missouri and Minnesota. Most of his descendants kept the spelling of the name. However, his son, Amos, changed the spelling of his name to Nixon.
