He died on 16 Feb 1882 in Union Twp., Bedford Co., Pennsylvania, USA. Although descendants of several of his siblings used the Carn spelling, his descendants appear to have used the Garn spelling of the surname.

He was married to Elizabeth ICKES (daughter of Henry ICKES and Catherine HINISH) on 6 Jul 1827 in Weyant, Bedford Co., Pennsylvania, USA vicinity. The marriage date comes from McBride and Capener. We suspect the marriage may have been earlier since census records support births of at least one child before this date. Elizabeth ICKES was born on 22 Oct 1805 in Union Twp., Bedford Co., Pennsylvania, USA. She died on 19 May 1890 in Burgoon, Sandusky Co., Ohio, USA. Christian M.
