He was married to Sophia Elisabet KNAUSS (daughter of Johann Peter KNAUSS and Margaretha DEHN) on 8 Dec 1853 in Kürnbach, Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany. Sophia Elisabet KNAUSS was born on 20 Apr 1818 in Kürnbach, Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany. She died on 7 Jun 1903. We cannot explain the difference in their ages or the births of two children before they married, one born almost ten years before they married. There may be transcription errors. However, the marriage record clearly gives birth dates and names of parents which are consistent with the dates of birth and names of parents on birth records.
