He died on 9 Nov 1969. There is a birth record for a Garland R. Garn, born to Henry W. Garn and Alice Miller on 16 December 1886 in Ashland Co., Ohio, which may be for Gaylord. However, the birth date is four months after the birth date that Gaylord's obituary reports. The 1910 U.S. Census of Gaylord's parents reports that Alice, his mother, was the mother of four children and that three were still living. We believe that Herchel was the child that died before the 1910 Census. This suggests that either Garland and Gaylord are the same person and that one of the birth reports is incorrect or that Gaylord's mother had five children instead of the four reported on the 1910 Census.
