554. John Calvin⁸ GARNS (Henry⁷ GARNS, Samuel⁶ GARNS, Conrad⁵ GERN, Johann Adam⁴ GERN, Johannes³ GERN, David² GERN, Johannes¹ GERN) was born on 4 Dec 1873 in Peters Twp., Franklin Co., Pennsylvania, USA. He died on 10 Apr 1941 in Mishawaka, St. Joseph Co., Indiana, USA.

He was married to Anna D. MILLER on 4 Mar 1897 in South Bend, St. Joseph Co., Indiana, USA. Anna D. MILLER was born in 1876 in Pennsylvania, USA. She died in 1950. Her marriage record and some of the census records give "D" as her middle initial. The Anna Garns on whose name appears on the same grave marker as the marker for John Calvin Garns has a middle initial "C." We presume the two Annas are the same person. John Calvin GARNS and Anna D. MILLER had the following children:

1117 i. Samuel⁹ GARNS was born in Jun 1898 in Indiana, USA. He died in 1910. The 1900 Census reports a son Samuel born in June 1898. A Find A Grave memorial reports a child Samuel Garns born in 1904 and died in 1910, who was buried in the same cemetery as John Calvin Garns and was undoubtedly a son. We do not know if these Samuels were the same person with some error in inscribing his birth year on his grave marker or if John Calvin Garns had two sons named Samuel who both died young.
1118 ii. Helen⁹ GARNS was born about 1901 in Indiana, USA. She died in 1932. She undoubtedly was the Helen (Garns) Swanger who was buried in the same cemetery as John Calvin Garns.
1119 iii. Theodore C.⁹ GARNS was born about 1904 in Indiana, USA. He died in 1956. We presume the Clyde Garnes who appears on the early censuses with John C. Garns is the Theodore C. Garns who appears on later censuses, also in Mishawaka, Indiana, and who was also buried in the same cemetery as John Calvin Garns.
