The marriage record gives her name as Silvia Poorman, his name as John Kerns and his father as Christopher Kerns. Lydia POORMAN was born about 1806 in Pennsylvania, USA. She died about Dec 1891 in Baltimore, Baltimore Co., Maryland, USA, most likely. She and her children spelled the name as Garns or Gerns in most of the records. John GARN and Lydia POORMAN had the following children:

child396 v. Samuel A.8 GERNS was born about 1845 in Pennsylvania, USA. He died on 22 Aug 1862 in Warrenton, Fauquier Co., Virginia, USA vicinity. He fought in the Union army during the Civil War, enlisting in Co. B of Purnell's Legion of the Maryland Volunteer Infantry on 18 September 1861 in Baltimore. While in the service, he got typhoid fever and died at Catlett's Station, near Warrenton. His mother's application for a pension based on his service reports that he left no widow or children.

He was married to Margaret STOUGH (daughter of George STOUGH) on 6 Jun 1854 in Ashland Co., Ohio, USA. Margaret STOUGH was born on 3 Mar 1817 in Fayette Co., Pennsylvania, USA.
